Statement

Design Intent
Brick House explores the relationship between form, materiality, and urban context. The project investigates how architectural form can adapt to spatial and temporal conditions while maintaining harmony with its surroundings. It seeks a balance between functional logic and material expression.
Material Expression
Brick is used not only as a cladding material but as a mediator between interior and exterior. The modular perforated brick façade filters light, defines privacy, and creates a rhythmic pattern that blurs the boundary between solid and void, establishing a dynamic dialogue between mass and transparency.
Climatic & Environmental Response
The solar analysis played a key role in shaping the façade. Brick screens and rotating sunshades regulate natural light and ventilation, optimizing thermal comfort throughout the year. This strategy ensures both energy efficiency and visual comfort within living spaces.
Spatial Organization
The project sits on a compact urban lot, using interlocking volumes and open voids to overcome spatial limitations. This approach enhances vertical perception, spatial diversity, and natural lighting within each residential unit, creating an intimate yet open atmosphere.
Urban Integration
At street level, the lobby and parking areas are designed to interact seamlessly with the public realm, promoting transparency and accessibility. The upper floors host residential units that frame views and light in a way that strengthens the building’s connection with its context.
Design Synthesis
Brick House represents a synthesis of climatic architecture, modern composition, and traditional craftsmanship. Through the intelligent interplay of light, material, and form, the project demonstrates how contemporary architecture can reinterpret local building traditions in a refined and context-sensitive manner.
